Swim safety at Bondi Beach
Bondi Beach is a great place to swim but for those unprepared or unfamiliar it can also be dangerous. Here are some basic tips that should be followed to ensure you stay safe when swimming at Bondi Beach.
Always swim between the red and yellow flags. These flags indicate the area where the surf lifesavers have deemed it safe to swim.
Be aware of the surf conditions. The beach can have strong currents and rips, so it's important to pay attention to the warning signs and flags posted on the beach.
Don't swim alone. It's always safer to swim with a buddy or in a group.
If you're not a strong swimmer, use a flotation device and stay within your depth.
Be aware of marine life. While the beach is not known for shark sightings, it's always best to be aware of the potential presence of marine life, such as jellyfish and stingrays.
Always keep an eye on your children and supervise them while they're swimming.
If you get into trouble while swimming, raise your arm and yell for help.
Lastly, never enter the water under the influence of alcohol or drugs, it can impair your judgement, and put you at risk of drowning.
